Angel of Ice Preview

Hello!

I can’t believe it – my debut novel ANGEL OF ICE is due to release tomorrow 15th December!!

1512059962953

I am so excited for you to read it finally.

Angel of Ice is a romantic suspense. It’s the perfect combination of hot romance and an intriguing mystery. Added to that, if you love charming small-town romances then you will definitely enjoy Angel of Ice. The novel is set in the close-knit town of Edenville.

It features a gorgeous PI Nick Holt and a beautiful and feisty florist Laura Fenwick.

Sparks fly when Laura begins to meddle in a murder case that Nick has been hired to investigate.

Here is the opening scene from Angel of Ice:-

Cindy Capwell was certain she was being watched. Her cornflower-blue eyes scanned the park but she couldn’t see anyone out of the ordinary. It was the familiar sea of faces. The residents of Edenville.

She picked up her half-eaten turkey sandwich and then put it back down on her lap. Her stomach felt queasy and she suddenly found it difficult to breath. She wondered if she were having a panic attack of some sort.

It had seemed like a good idea to have lunch outdoors in the fresh air and under the winter sun. But now she felt alone and vulnerable. An icy trickle of apprehension slid down her spine. She just couldn’t shrug off the feeling of being watched. She may have laughed it off and put it down to an active imagination, if she hadn’t begun receiving the sinister gifts over the last two weeks.

First, just a single red rose left on her front doorstep. Followed by a framed photo of herself. The photo had been taken at her friend Laura Fenwick’s birthday party a month ago. And then a red scarf scented with her favorite perfume. The most disturbing gift had appeared on her doorstep that morning. A lock of blond hair in a tiny silver locket. Cindy was sure it was her hair. She’d visited the salon the day before for a haircut. It meant that, whoever was stalking her, had been at the salon and had somehow grabbed a lock of her hair.

But the salon had been full of ladies engrossed in the latest gossip.

So who was stalking her? Was it her ex-husband Mark? He had a fierce temper and Cindy had borne the brunt of that temper over the course of their marriage. And Mark was a notorious gambler. Cindy had spent thousands of dollars paying off his gambling debts and loan sharks. But Mark was a direct in-your-face type of guy. He didn’t have the patience for playing snide games. No. It wasn’t Mark. Cindy’s instinct told her it was someone else. A stranger, perhaps. Or maybe someone she knew.

Cindy thought about her friend Laura, who was strong, smart, and one of the most compassionate people she knew. Laura was also the goddaughter of Edenville’s Sheriff. Cindy decided she would speak to Laura about her fears. Laura could accompany her to see Sheriff Swinton and he could look into the matter. Maybe even arrange for some protection for her. Cindy knew she was treading on a very thin rope. She couldn’t handle things on her own. She had to confide in Laura and the sheriff before things spiralled totally out of control.

Cindy tossed the sandwich into a bin and began walking toward the Town Square. She took in deep breaths, willing her erratic heartbeat to slow. Edenville’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting was taking place at The Square the following night, and Cindy was due to unveil a nativity scene she’d sculpted out of ice. As much as she loved ice sculpting, she now regretted ever taking on the task which felt like an uncomfortable load on her already heavy shoulders. She had to complete the sculpture of the baby Jesus in the manger before tomorrow night. She was glad her sister Caroline was visiting from New York. Caroline had helped her sculpt some of the pieces in the nativity scene. But mostly Caroline was looking after Cindy’s busy bakery, Sugar & Spice.

Cindy looked ahead and cursed when she saw Jack Davison, an arrogant business tycoon, whom she’d outbid on Westerdale, a prime piece of property on the outskirts of town. Davison, known to be a ruthless businessman, was livid when she outbid him three months ago, and since then he’d been constantly harassing her into selling him the property. He had plans to open up a chemical factory on the land while Cindy envisioned setting up a spa and wellness centre.

Westerdale was beautiful scenic land and she couldn’t imagine it being turned into a toxic factory. Which was why she’d been holding out firm against Davison. She was not going to allow him to bully her into selling him that land. And she was determined to move ahead with her plans for the wellness centre.

Cindy veered off a different path to escape Davison’s attention. She was not in the mood for another face-off with the overbearing man, but it seemed she was out of luck for her other nemesis, Tina Avery, was directly in her path.

Cindy’s heart thudded as she came face-to-face with Tina, owner of Something Sweet. The woman had once reigned as Edenville’s queen of cakes until Sugar & Spice began eating away at her clientele.

Tina fixed her with a furious glare. “The Morrison’s always ordered their Christmas cakes from me. But this year, they’re choosing your cakes over mine!”

A sheen of perspiration dotted Cindy’s brow. “I had no idea they used to deal with you. They just placed their orders and—”

“Well, you will cancel their orders and tell them you’re no longer in business!” Tina boomed, her double chin wobbling furiously. She wagged a plump finger at Cindy. “I said this to you before and I’ll say it again: Edenville ain’t big enough for two bakeries. I’ve been here for close onto thirty years and before that, my grandmama for over fifty years. Something Sweet is part of this town’s history and I’m not going to lose my family legacy over the likes of you.”

Cindy gasped, the blood draining from her face. “You want me to close down my bakery?”

Tina’s mouth curved into a triumphant smile. “That’s exactly what I’m saying.” She rolled her eyes. “Finally the fancy blonde from New York is listening to me,” she muttered under her breath before dawdling away.

Cindy sank onto a bench to catch her breath. Her legs had turned to water and her body was limp as a rag doll. She froze at the sound of rustling in a nearby bush. Again. That overpowering feeling of being watched. Terrified, Cindy realized she was prey for an unseen predator.

Angel Of Ice

Hello!

Yes, I know there’s been a long gap since my last blog post.

And I feel terribly guilty for having lagged behind.

As they say LIFE HAPPENS and 2017 really has been a busy and exciting year.

It’s also been a year of change. My work routine was overhauled in May when I began producing the drive show on Lotus Fm which airs 3-6pm.  So that meant adjusting to new office hours and also getting home much later in the evenings.

The downside to this was that my writing projects had to be put on the backburner.

Then three months ago, I resolved to create time for my writing and I began plotting and writing my debut novel ANGEL OF ICE.

I’m thrilled to let you know that it’s due to release officially on 15th December 2017.

It is a romantic suspense and I had the most amazing experience writing it.

I will be blogging more about that in the days to come – but for now, I just wanted to share the blurb and cover with you!

When PI, Nick Holt is hired by wealthy industrialist Reginald Baxter to find out who murdered his granddaughter Cindy Capwell, in the small town of Edenville, the last thing he needs is a meddling florist to distract him with her alluring beauty.

Laura Fenwick is determined to figure out who killed her friend and insists on aiding Nick in his investigation.  In the pursuit of the killer, passion explodes between them, and Laura realizes a danger far greater than trapping a killer: it’s having her heart captured by a man who doesn’t believe in love.

What my wonderful editor Kathy Bosman had this to say about the book:-

“Angel of Ice is a keep-you-on-your-toes suspense  and  romance. The romance is deep and hot, the plot complex and well-paced, and the characters will keep you glued to the pages.”

And check out this stunning cover – what do you think of it? Drop me a comment below.

Manifest Your Soulmate

soul-mates

Valentine’s Day ~ the day of love and romance has just passed by.

It’s not a grand day though if you are single and feeling depressed about your single status.

If you are single, then take heart. You’re not forgotten.

Today, by the way is Single Awareness Day – a day meant to celebrate all singletons with the key message that it’s okay to be single and there are numerous benefits to enjoying a single lifestyle.

But many singletons reach a point where they’re done with being lonely and they yearn to establish a deep and romantic connection.

They yearn to meet their Soulmate.

I’ve always found the concept of having a Soulmate rather intriguing – so I
chatted to Merle Cutten Westcott – a Life Alignment practitioner and asked her all about Soulmates and How to Manifest a Soulmate Relationship….

Merle, what is your definition of a soulmate?
That person who you connect with immediately. Usually a connection that you have never experienced before. Often a deep love connection, and it may be the kind of connection where within weeks you know that you will be with this person forever.
Who is a soulmate?
Soulmates can be your husband, lover or even friend. Sometimes you connect with a person on such a deep level that you can share everything with them. They are like a sister or mother to you, but there is no romantic connection. When we talk about manifesting a soulmate relationship we need to be very clear: are you looking for a life partner or friend?
How does one recognize their soulmate?
Not only will you feel an immediate attraction to the person, but over time the attraction will turn to love. The relationship needs to be one that allows you to be yourself and to grow. Often people think they have found their soulmate but in fact the relationship turns out to be toxic. You have to continually ask: is this serving me? In a soulmate relationship you support each other and allow each other to shine. A relationship where one person is jealous and holds the other back is not that of a soul mate.
I’ve heard of Twin Flames. Can you elaborate on this and is there a difference between Soulmates and Twin Flames?
A twin flame is our mirror, not our spiritual soulmate. So the relationships are often stormy. This doesn’t mean that they don’t work, the key here is that both the parties have to have learnt to love themselves, or they bring all their baggage into the relationship.
Why do people generally struggle to meet their soulmates and what blocks them from enjoying fulfilling romantic relationships?
The fact that we carry baggage, or cellular memory from every experience we have ever had, as well as memory from our parents and grandparents, means that we have blockages in our energetic field. Sometimes these prevent us from meeting the right person. And then if we do they often stop us from enjoying a fulfilling relationship, releasing these blockages opens us up to finding true love.
Is meeting one’s Soulmate the guarantee of a happy-ever-after love story?
Not at all. All relationships require work and commitment. If you are carrying past hurt that manifests in awful behavior no relationship will survive.
If one wishes to manifest a Soulmate relationship – what action should they take?
Working on yourself is a good way to manifest a Soulmate relationship. In Life Alignment we would work according to your higher self and release the blockages in your cellular memory, this impacts on how you function in the world. If you think of yourself as a pool of clear water and all the experiences you have ever had as the mud in the pool, then every time we do a balance we remove mud until the pool is clear again. As children we absorb the emotions of everyone around us, so for example children from divorced families, will often not manifest a relationship as the cellular memory tells them all relationships fail. If we release that memory from the cell, they still remember the details, we never erase that, but they are able to move on without the expectation that all relationships fail.
Your final words of advice to anyone who wants to attract a soulmate relationship?
Love yourself, and have a clear picture in your mind of what you want from a relationship. You can then attract the right kind of relationship. If you want a home and kids, no point in visualizing life on a yacht with a handsome sailor. I always tell my students and clients that, “Where thought goes energy flows.”
Thanks so much, Merle! I look forward to hosting you again to chat more about Life Alignment and how it can help people manifest their dream lives.

Stop Waiting For Doors To Open – Build Your Own Door

build-a-door

Milton Berle was an American comedian and actor.

He once famously said: “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.”

The lesson from this quote is that instead of being passive – we should become proactive and create our own opportunities. We need to create our own luck and we need to take action to make things happen.

Often people say that they are waiting for the right opportunities and when nothing happens, they lose hope. Well instead of losing hope, one has to think out of the box and look at ways of creating new opportunities.

Use your skills and creativity. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that you’re not a creative person. Everyone can be creative. You just have to tap into your creative side. Begin thinking of yourself as a creative person. Affirm that you are a magnificent creative being. As you think of yourself as being resourceful and creative you will be guided by instinct on the steps you need to take. And if you feel that you are lacking certain skills – than you can learn those skills. Assess which skills you are lacking. What skills do you need in order to progress? Sign up for classes or an online course and obtain those skills. Network with people in the particular field you are interested in. Don’t be afraid to ask for guidance or advice. Most successful people are willing to share their knowledge.

As you put your best self forward – opportunities will arise.

Remember you can’t wait for success to find you – you have to create your own success. Don’t be afraid to take the steps in creating your dream life.

Take full ownership of 2017 – if you have to build a new door – do it!

I would love to hear about your plans for 2017? What steps are you planning to take to make things happen? Instead of waiting for doors to open – are you planning to build your own door?

Manifest Your Wishes With a ‘THANK YOU BOX’

thank-you-flowers

It’s the last day of 2016! Many of you are probably wondering what the new year will bring or perhaps you’ve already written out your new goal lists for 2017.

I want to share with you a wonderful way to manifest your New Year wishes. I’ve been using this manifestation method for several years and I’m always amazed by the results.

All you need to do is create a THANK YOU BOX.

I first came to know about a Thank You box whilst reading one of my favourite prosperity authors Catherine Ponder.

A Thank You box works on this principle – give thanks before you receive whatever it is you want.

Get a box (even a shoe-box will do) and decorate it.  Your Thank You box should look attractive and appealing to your eye. Whenever a personal need arises or you have a specific item you wish to manifest in your life – write down a small thank you note –  thanking the Universe for whatever it is you want. Write the note as though you’ve already received what it is you seek. Remember to always use the magical words: Thank You and then place your notes into your box. Once a week, go through your notes and check which wishes have manifested.

If something hasn’t manifested as yet, place it back into your box and just be patient. Sometimes it takes longer for some desires to be fulfilled. You just have to remain firm in your faith that what you’ve requested is on it’s way to you. You don’t have to worry about the details of how it will manifest – leave the specifics to the Universe. You just put in your order – give thanks that it’s already done and then wait for it to manifest on the physical plane.

Another important point to remember is that the Universe will always give us what is best for us. It will be for our highest good and we have to accept it. So create your Thank You box today. Remember the golden rule : Always first give thanks for whatever you want – before it even appears in your life.

I would love to know your thoughts on the Thank You box method of manifesting your wishes. Please leave a comment below!

I wish you a magical 2017 – filled with love, joy and prosperity.

thank-you-box

Make Gratitude An Everyday Habit

GRATITUDE ROCK.jpg

We are in the midst of the festive season. This time of year, I hear people talk more often about gratitude and counting one’s blessings. As they spend quality time with their loved ones, they reflect on how grateful they are for all that they have and appreciate those special moments spent with family and friends. But once the festive season passes – some people tend to forget about being grounded in gratitude. They soon get caught up in the daily grind of life and forget to stop and appreciate the good things they have in their life. They lose the warm glowing feel of gratitude as they begin to only talk about the negatives and complain about people, events and circumstances. Gratitude shouldn’t be a seasonal practice – but an everyday one. Gratitude is a powerful force which can transform your life. It is one of the quickest ways to snap out of a depressed or negative state and positively reprogram your mind.

One of the easiest ways to activate the Law of Attraction – is to find more things to be grateful for. Appreciate the beauty around you and give thanks for the blessings you have. When you practice gratitude – it places you in a positive space. When you are feeling positive it becomes easier to attract more good things into your life. Practicing gratitude also aligns you with joy and positivity.

As we enter 2017 – set your intention to begin a daily practice of gratitude.Wake up feeling grateful each morning and go to bed at night also feeling grateful for the day you’ve had. Even if something negative happened – look for something positive to focus on. You can always find something to be grateful for. If you look hard enough – you will find it.

Keep a gratitude journal by daily writing down three to five things you can be grateful for. Remember you create your life with your thoughts, feelings and emotions. Make gratitude a daily part of your life – and you will be amazed by the wonderful things you attract and the miracles that come your way.

Have you experienced the power of Gratitude in your life? Perhaps you already have a gratitude journal. How has gratitude changed your life? After reading this blog post – are you feeling inspired to begin a gratitude journal in 2017? I would love to hear from you! Please leave a comment below.

Enjoy a Banting Christmas

In recent times there has been great interest in Banting and the low carb healthy fat lifestyle (LCHF). I recently had the pleasure of chatting to Banting Coach Merle Cutten Westcott and found out that it is very possible to bant all year round – yes- even in the midst of the Christmas season!

Merle, a former high school teacher, taught and practiced a complementary therapy called Life Alignment. Since June 2014 Merle has been coaching as a Banting Buddie. As a mother, she is passionate about how children eat and often gives talks and workshops to groups of mothers to help them change their children’s eating habits and to cut down on sugar consumption. Merle conducts one-on-one coaching as well an online coaching programme.

Recently, nutritional expert Sally-Ann Creed teamed up with Merle and fellow banting coach Janita Bold to put together THE LOW CARB CREED which unpacks the low carb lifestyle and also contains yummy recipes.

Here is my interview with Merle

merle-pic

Merle, what is Banting and what does such a lifestyle entail?

Banting or LCHF (low carb healthy fat), is a low carb, moderate protein and healthy fat lifestyle.  We cut all sugars, grains and processed oils.  Real  food that doesn’t come from a factory constitutes most of our diet.

What are the great benefits of Banting?

While many people think that this is a quick fix weight loss diet, it is actually a lifestyle that promotes healing in the body.  Many of my clients start Banting because of health issues, diabetes, stomach disorders, epilepsy, PCVOS and the list goes on.  For many this is a life-changing choice, and they are able to reduce or even go off all medication (under a doctor’s supervision)

What lead you to become a Banting coach?

As a long time complementary therapist I had a keen interest in nutrition and after my late mother lost 30kg following a low carb lifestyle I decided to study LCHF nutrition.

How have you and your family successfully adapted to the Banting lifestyle – especially when you have to attend an event with catered meals or eat out at a restaurant?

My husband, 12 year old son and I all follow a low carb lifestyle.  Once you know how it is very easy.  When we eat out we choose protein, grilled or fried in butter with either a salad or vegetables.  Often I will have a salad as a main course and ask them to hold the dressing and bring me olive oil and a lemon wedge, this is really easy.  Breakfast is simple. Most breakfasts are fine if you just leave out the toast. If a meal is catered I just pick and choose. There is always something that I can eat.

What practical tips and advice do you have for people who want to begin Banting and how can they beat their carb and sugar cravings?

Supplementing with chromium helps to combat sugar cravings.  Eat three balanced meals a day, and don’t try and skip meals thinking that you will lose weight faster.

Tell us more about your role as a Banting coach and how you’ve been assisting people achieve their weight and health goals?

As a Banting coach I educate people about the lifestyle.  Diet plans are not effective as they are not a long term solution; education is the key to success, knowing the science behind the choices is key.  Much of my coaching is done in online support groups; people are very successful as they support each other.

You’ve co-authored the book, LOW CARB CREED. Give me an overview of the book and its contents?

THE LOW CARB CREED, answers all the frequently asked questions about LCHF lifestyles.  We explain everything from why we avoid certain foods, to how to interpret blood test results.  Food lists are updated, portioning explained and there are simple delicious every day recipes.

We are in the festive season. Some might say it’s just not practical to be Banting this time of year. What is your response to this and how can we maintain a low carb diet during the festive period?

It’s very practical to Bant at this time of year.  It’s my third Christmas following the lifestyle.  I choose not to eat sugar and grains as the impact on my body is just not worth it.  Instead I offer to take snacks or desert (lots of great recipes in The Low-Carb Creed) to make sure that there is food that I can eat at a function.  Choosing protein, vegetables and avoiding potatoes and rice is very simple.  I also have the occasional drink, but choose dry wine and either have a white wine spritzer or a glass of dry red.
